Who We Are…
LHRMA is a non-profit organization serving Human Resource professionals in the Lakeshore area of Western Michigan.
We strive to provide valuable information, education, and networking opportunities to our members relative to the field of Human Resources.
Our Members…
Our membership consists of approximately 138 members from local area organizations. Membership in our organization is held in the individual's name, not an organization with which the member is affiliated and consists of three categories designated as Professional, Affiliate and Student. To become a member you must meet one of the following criteria.
Professional Members. Professional membership shall be limited to those individuals who are engaged as one or more of the following: (a) practitioners of human resources; (b) certified by the Human Resource Certification Institute; (c) faculty members holding an assistant, associate or full professor rank in human resource management or any of its
specialized functions at an accredited college or university and have at least three years of
experience at this level of teaching; (d) full-time consultants with experience practicing in the
field of human resource management; and/or (e) full-time attorneys with experience in counseling and advising clients on matters relating to the human resource profession. Professional members may vote and hold office in the Association.
Affiliate Members. Affiliate members are individuals who do not meet the qualifications of the other categories of membership, but who demonstrate a bona fide interest in human resource management and the mission of the Association. Affiliate members shall have the right to attend meetings of the Association, serve on committees of the Association, and receive information from the Association, but may not vote or hold office in the Association.
Affiliate membership shall be limited to 10% of the total membership. Active members that
would be considered Affiliate members according to definition on or before December 31, 2008 will be grandfathered as Professional members under these bylaws.
Student Members. Individuals who are:(a) enrolled either as full-time or part-time students, at freshman standing or higher, (b) enrolled in the equivalent of at least six (6) credit hours; (c) enrolled in a four-year or graduate institution and/or a consortium of
3 of these or a two-year community college, (d) able to provide verification of a demonstrated
emphasis in human resource management subjects and/or enrollment in the college or university’s human resources or related degree program, and (e) not currently employed in the human resource field, but have a genuine interest in human resource management and the mission of the Association shall be considered student members in the Association. Student members shall have the right to attend meetings of the Association, serve on committees of the Association, and receive information from the Association, but may not vote or hold office in the Association.
